Poker

Poker is booming around the world, and a sure sign of this fact are the massive amounts of online poker game sites on the internet today. I’m not really sure how it happened, but poker suddenly went from being a relatively obscure betting game to a national pastime in America, and now apparently many other countries as well.

If you are trying to learn how to play poker, an online poker game is a great way to do it. There are many different versions of poker, each with its own set of rules and its own lingo. While poker games are generally easy to pick up on, an online poker game provides you some anonymity to learn without embarrassment.

Even if you are already a seasoned poker pro, online poker games can a fun and easy way to help hone your skills. Poker is definitely one of those games that you can also learn more about, and can always develop new tactics. Another great thing about online poker games is that it brings you to the table with people that you would otherwise never meet in real life. This fact alone provides you with new and interesting challenges that are just what you need to stay sharp and keep thinking on your feet. The poker world is rapidly changing, and playing online poker games is a good way to stay with the times.

Most of the online poker games are totally free. All you have to do is register, provide a name and email address and you’re ready to rock. While I occasionally get a spam email from some of these sites, it’s a small price to pay for an online poker game anytime I want it. I personally like Full Tilt Poker, as they haven’t sent me a single email, and their site never seems to suffer from lag or slowdowns.

If gambling is your thing, you can find online poker games for real money. Most of the bigger online poker game sites also offer a chance to play with others for real money. I don’t recommend doing this unless you’re very comfortable with your poker skills and can afford to lose. I generally stick to the fake money games, though every now and then a real money online poker game can be exciting.

Poker is one of those games you can play for five minutes, or for five hours, depending on how much free time you have. Online poker games are likewise really easy to jump in and out of any time you want, and are a great way to kill some time.

I learned how to play five card stud before I learned how to play Go Fish. My grandfather was an avid gambler and card player. His favorite game was poker, specifically five card stud and he enjoyed playing poker even when we were playing for pennies that we threw back in the poker jar after our games ended. It probably comes as no surprise that I am addicted to playing a good poker game online.

A poker game online differs from a poker game face-to-face. I miss the subtle tells that players give. I also like that many of the players do not know that they are giving their hands away just through a simple expression or subconscious gesture. It takes a lot of time to develop the skill required to “read” other players. This element is lost when playing poker online.

Texas Hold-Um is the most popular poker game online. This game is really appealing because it appeals to the adventurous type. I initially lost every penny of my cyber play money within a few hands. I attribute my losses to curiosity instead of the obvious inability to read the other players. I know that I should have folded a number of hands but I just had to play them out because I wanted to see if they would win by some fluke. Sometimes they did win but most of the time I should have just followed my gut and the general rules to playing poker. I chose to be so risky with the money because it was free.

There are a number of poker sites that offer free cyber money that you can lose at no cost to you. This kind of risk-free poker games are really appealing to someone like me. I did enjoy playing for pennies with my grandfather, but I also liked knowing that the pennies went back into my poker fund jar. Many people opt to play for real money in a poker game online and with some more practice, I may conjure the courage to play poker online for real money, but I don’t see it happening in the near future.

The appeal for a poker game online is still dangerous for me. Time is money and I can spend a lot of time playing the online poker games. I can’t say that I see myself becoming a professional card player, but I can see myself dedicating many hours to online poker as a hobby. But with a little self-control and discipline I can fondly remember my grandfather while playing a few poker games online.

Three Card Poker

Three Card Poker is fast becoming one of the most popular casino table games. It is a lot of fun, and easy to play, which contributes to much of its popularity. You are not playing against other players; it is just you against the dealer. Playing with others can be great fun because you all have the same agenda-to beat the dealer! Three Card Poker is less intimidating to play than other casino table games, and is great for first time card table players.

Three Card Poker is played with a standard 52-card deck, and it is actually two games in one. Directly in front of each player are three circles. The top circle is for Pairs Plus, and the middle and bottom circles are for the Ante and Play respectively. On the Ante bet the player is betting against the dealer for the highest card. Pairs Plus is the bet that the player will get a pair or better, such as three of a kind. In some casinos, the Ante bet must be made in addition to the Pairs Plus bet at the required table minimum. The game starts with the player making a bet on Ante and/or Pairs Plus. After all the players (a limit of six) have made their bets, the dealer starts at his or her left in a clockward motion and gives each player a three card hand, which is dealt either by hand or by a card-shuffling machine. The players then evaluate their hand and decide to hold or to play, if playing, bets would need to be placed on Play and Anty, or Play, Ante, and Pairs Plus. The dealer then turns over his or her hand, and starting at the left of the table, he dealer compares his hand to those of the players. Payout will be made for the highest card, pair, three of a kind, flush, straight, or royal flush. A pair always wins if Pairs Plus or Ante has been played; it always beats the dealer. Payouts vary from casino to casino and are posted at the tables.

The player must have a strategy to win at Three Card Poker in order to beat the dealer and lose as little money as possible. The play should only be made if the player has a queen or better on at least one card, and should have greater than a four and a six on the other two cards. If the player chooses to play with a lower hand, the odds are greater that he will lose against the dealer. If the player folds, he has lost his Play, Ante, and/or Pairs Plus bets. The player's bet is then removed from the table with the three cards for that play, and the dealer then goes on to the next player to complete the cycle.

Persons of all skill levels can play three Card Poker; its simplicity makes it so fun to play, and the more the players the better. This table game will continue to gain popularity as the number of casinos offering table games increases across the country. Next time you and your family or friends are visiting a casino, take the plunge and have the time of your life!

Internet poker has experienced huge growth in the past few years, in no small part to the fact that one of the winners of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, NV, played almost all of his poker games before the tournament in front of a computer screen instead of seated at a card table.

Playing internet poker doesn’t allow players to use the classic poker strategy of “playing the man.” “Playing the man” involves paying attention to the opposing players at the table, looking for any unconscious physical signs that may give away if they’re bluffing or not. Poker players who employ this skill pay more attention to the other players at the table than they do to the cards, though the cards in their hands still have some relevance to how they play the game.

Since playing internet poker doesn’t allow players to see any unconscious gestures at all, internet poker players learn to ignore the opposing players’ physicalities altogether and pay attention to odds, pot odds, and the betting habits of their opponents. Some would argue that these strategies completely change the game of poker, and though they may be right, experience has shown that following these techniques correctly results in winning a lot of hands.

There are a lot of different internet poker sites, all with their own fans and detractors. Party Poker and Pacific Poker are a couple of the most popular pay sites, allowing you to play games either for real money or for play money. Yahoo.com also offers a free, “play” money poker server. Though many people play on “play” money sites before they make the commitment to play for real cash, the experience gained on the play money tables isn’t always transferable to real money games, either on the internet or at home. In play money games players are less likely to fold bad hands and more likely to chase bad cards.

Most of the pay sites will give you $20 or so for signing up and allow you to make or lose your own money from there. Be warned, though you’ll find some easy games on the low-money tables, sometimes experienced players will troll around looking for easy marks. It’s easy to lose a lot of money in internet poker, especially in the no-limit games since it’s easy to forget that you’re playing with real money. Keep an eye on your bank account and don’t be too hasty to add money to a small bankroll; if you’re losing your shirt it may be time to go back to real-life poker games for awhile.
